Abundance

Abundance is an old card, about 23 years old in fact. But for the entirety of its existence, the card has pretty much been a bulk rare. That changed this week.

In the midst of Innistrad: Crimson Vow spoilers, we got our first look at Cultivator Colossus Cultivator Colossus Trample
Cultivator Colossus's power and toughness are each equal to the number of lands you control.
When this creature enters, you may put a land card from your hand onto the battlefield tapped. If you do, draw a card and repeat this process. . It didn’t take players long to figure out the synergy between Colossus and Abundance, as together, they allow you to put every land in your deck directly onto the battlefield. I wrote an entire article this week that breaks down the combo, including some of the best decks that can utilize it.

I’d firstly dig through your bulk rares to see if you have any copies of Abundance hidden away. If you don’t, you may want to consider picking up Abundance now because they are selling fast.

The Meathook Massacre

You may remember The Meathook Massacre getting a lot of attention several weeks ago when it shot up to $40.00. But the hype for the Legendary Enchantment is beginning to settle down.

Now, The Meathook Massacre is available for as low as $30.00. I know that is still expensive, but this card will be a staple of many EDH decks, particularly aristocrat-style decks like Teysa Karlov Teysa Karlov If a creature dying causes a triggered ability of a permanent you control to trigger, that ability triggers an additional time.
Creature tokens you control have vigilance and lifelink. . If you thought you missed out when Meathook Massacre originally spiked, now may be a good time to pick one up while it’s on sale.

Eidolon of the Great Revel

Eidolon of the Great Revel really could have used a reprint in the Mono Red Burn Pioneer Challenger Deck that came out this year. Because it didn’t get reprinted, it has started trending upwards in price as I mentioned in last week’s MTG Marketplace: Biggest Winners, Losers and Trends.

Until Eidolon gets reprinted, it could continue rising in price. This is a staple of burn strategies in both Pioneer and Modern. So, if you want to upgrade your Pioneer Challenger Deck, or try out Burn in Modern, I’d consider picking up your Eidolon’s now.

Hottest MH2 Singles Today

Fury

Fury is used in so many Modern decks, including one of the top 5 decks in the metagame right now, Crashcade. I wrote extensively about Fury and all the decks that play it in my article this week, You’ll Be Furious If This MTG Card Spikes Any Further in Price.

While it was once widely regarded as the worst Elemental Incarnation out of MH2, Fury is now proving its power. That’s why I think it will end up being about $25.00 once MH2 goes out of print. I’d recommend picking up your copies soon.

Urza’s Saga

There were cries to ban Urza’s Saga in the early days of Modern Horizons 2. It’s simply one of the best land cards ever printed and it immediately made a mark on the Modern format, cementing Urza’s Saga as a $20.00+ card.

That may seem expensive, but I actually think $20.00 is an amazing price for Urza’s Saga. The reason I say this is because of the inevitable demand for this card outside of Modern. I’m talking about EDH.

The reason so many Commander decks will want access to Urza’s Saga is because it can search out some of the most powerful cards in the format like Sol Ring Sol Ring {T}: Add {C}{C}. and Mana Crypt Mana Crypt At the beginning of your upkeep, flip a coin. If you lose the flip, this artifact deals 3 damage to you.
{T}: Add {C}{C}. .

Because of its prevalence in Modern and its potential in Commander, I’d definitely pick up copies of Urza’s Saga today while they’re on sale.

Reanimating with Grief & Archon of Cruelty

Grief was one of the most hyped cards out of Modern Horizons 2. In fact, people thought that Grief combined with Ephemerate Ephemerate Exile target creature you control, then return it to the battlefield under its owner's control.
Rebound (If you cast this spell from your hand, exile it as it resolves. At the beginning of your next upkeep, you may cast this card from exile without paying its mana cost.) would break the Modern metagame. While certainly synergistic, this two-card combo quickly fell flat after MH2 officially dropped.

But Grief/Ephemerate is making a comeback. Although, they aren’t appearing in the same Orzhav decklists from before. Now, they’re a part of a new Esper Reanimator strategy, featuring Archon of Cruelty in combination with Persist Persist Return target nonlegendary creature card from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it. and Unmarked Grave Unmarked Grave Search your library for a nonlegendary card, put that card into your graveyard, then shuffle. .

Solitude

There was a swell of demand for Solitude a couple of weeks ago. Its price spiked so much that it was on a trajectory to overtake Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer Whenever Ragavan deals combat damage to a player, create a Treasure token and exile the top card of that player's library. Until end of turn, you may cast that card.
Dash {1}{R} (You may cast this spell for its dash cost. If you do, it gains haste, and it's returned from the battlefield to its owner's hand at the beginning of the next end step.) and become the most expensive card in MH2.

Alas, some of the hype for Solitude has died down, with copies available for as low as $40.00-$45.00 at the time of this article. Solitude will continue to be an absolute staple of many Modern decks, so I’d definitely consider picking them up now while they are on sale.
