So far, we’ve mostly been using cards that are considered bad. However, looking at only bad cards leads to a bad time, so we’re going to start including cards that are just a bit odd. One of our favorite cards from the Crimson Vow spoilers happens to be one that’s just a bit strange, and we love the peculiar here at MTG Rocks.
We could probably be talking about a few cards with that description, but as you’ll already know if you’ve read the title, we specifically want to talk about
Dollhouse of Horrors

What is Dollhouse of Horrors

Dollhouse of Horrors

It’s a shame this can’t be done at instant speed, but it’s still a pretty cool ability. There are two main ways we can make the most of this card. Obviously, we definitely need to be using artifact creatures where possible anyway, but either focussing on the token aspect or the Construct aspect is what we’re going for.
Would you look at that? There are two commanders ready for those options, what a coincidence.

Alibou of Horrors

Alibou, Ancient Witness is a five mana red and white 4/5 that gives all of your other artifact creatures haste. Immediately, this is a good match. On top of that, they read, “Whenever one or more artifact creatures you control attack, Alibou, Ancient Witness deals X damage to any target and you scry X, where X is the number of tapped artifacts you control.”
This means you can swing in and shoot down threats with ease with a card like
Dollhouse of Horrors

As you can see, we’re aiming for tokens here, so it’s only natural to then also include Intangible Virtue and
Anointed Procession

Dollhouse of Traxos

Traxos, Scourge of Kroog is a big old 7/7 with trample for four mana. Most importantly though, they’re also a Construct. Traxos reads, “Traxos, Scourge of Kroog enters the battlefield tapped and doesn’t untap during your untap step. Whenever you cast a historic spell, untap Traxos.” Our aim here is simple, we’re going all-in on Construct tribal, baby.
There are a lot of really great Constructs in MTG, which means this deck ends up being surprisingly powerful. Foundry Inspector is great because all of your artifact spells end up cost one less to cast. You’ve then got both Cheif of the Foundry and Steel Overseer who make your artifact creatures stronger too. All of these also happen to be Constructs.
Finally, and this one is great, Scrapyard Recombiner is a three-mana 0/0 with modular two that allows you to sacrifice an Artifact to fetch up a Construct from your deck and put them into your hand. Again, this build ends up being really powerful, and the tribal synergies also mean you can use cards like Door of Destinies for even greater effects.
