What if, and hear us out here, you could just draw cards and then eventually win the game? Well, that’s sort of what happens in Magic: The Gathering anyway, but we’re not talking about having to do anything else to actually get ahead of your opponents.
With that in mind, and assuming you’re thinking, “well yeah, that sounds great, tell me more,” then let’s talk about today’s commander.
Meet your commander

The Locust God

Whenever you draw a card, create a 1/1 blue and red Insect creature token with flying and haste.
{2}{U}{R}: Draw a card, then discard a card.
When The Locust God dies, return it to its owner's hand at the beginning of the next end step.
is a six-mana blue and red flying 4/4 that goes back to your hand when it dies. That’s good anyway, but you can also pay four mana to draw a card and then discard a card, which is also useful. The kicker though, is that it reads, “Whenever you draw a card, create a 1/1 blue and red Insect creature token with flying and haste.”
So, you’re getting at least one 1/1 with flying and haste every single turn. That doesn’t seem like much, but all you need to do is lean into drawing a lot of cards and you can obliterate nearly any other Commander deck with a surprising amount of ease.
Let’s dive into the cards that make that possible then, shall we?
