Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty has introduced the world of Magic: The Gathering to some genuinely interesting mechanics. One of the most eye-catching of the bunch has to be reconfigure.

Reconfigure is a mechanic that is on equipment cards, and it means that these cards are actually creatures as well as equipment cards. It usually costs a bit more to use, but the effects can be really powerful, especially on some of the cards.

The best reconfigure cards in Commander

The main issue with this mechanic is that it’s quite pricey, so the effects need to be worth it. We’re going to focus on three that are especially powerful, with the first one being Lion Sash Lion Sash Lion Sash {W}: Exile target card from a graveyard. If it was a permanent card, put a +1/+1 counter on this permanent.
Equipped creature gets +1/+1 for each +1/+1 counter on this Equipment.
Reconfigure {2} ({2}: Attach to target creature you control; or unattach from a creature. Reconfigure only as a sorcery. While attached, this isn't a creature.)
. This is a two-mana white 1/1 that allows you to pay one mana to exile a card from a graveyard, and it gets a +1/+1 counter on it if that card was a permanent. Then, it grants whatever it’s equipped to +1/+1 for each counter on it. Wow.

Next is another white offering, Cloudsteel Kirin Cloudsteel Kirin Cloudsteel Kirin Flying
Equipped creature has flying and "You can't lose the game and your opponents can't win the game."
Reconfigure {5} ({5}: Attach to target creature you control; or unattach from a creature. Reconfigure only as a sorcery. While attached, this isn't a creature.)
is a three-mana 3/2 with flying that, when equipped, gives that creature flying, and also makes it so that you can’t lose the game, and your opponents can’t win. These cards are always great in Commander, so this should be no different.

Our final pick for this section is Tanuki Transplanter Tanuki Transplanter Tanuki Transplanter Whenever this creature or equipped creature attacks, add an amount of {G} equal to its power. Until end of turn, you don't lose this mana as steps and phases end.
Reconfigure {3} ({3}: Attach to target creature you control; or unattach from a creature. Reconfigure only as a sorcery. While attached, this isn't a creature.)
. This is a green 3/2 that reads “Whenever Tanuki Transplanter or equipped creature attacks, add an amount of {G} equal to its power. Until end of turn, you don’t lose this mana as steps and phases end.” Mana is good, it only costs three to reconfigure, and you could fund some monstrous turns with this.

The best reconfigure support cards in Commander

Support cards are where things are a little mixed with reconfigure. Generally speaking, the best cards are going to be the ones that already support equipment cards in general. That means the likes of Sram, Senior Edificer Sram, Senior Edificer Sram, Senior Edificer Whenever you cast an Aura, Equipment, or Vehicle spell, draw a card. are going to be big in making sure you can get the most out of the cards themselves, by allowing you to draw.

They’re also creatures though, which means that Alibou, Ancient Witness Alibou, Ancient Witness Alibou, Ancient Witness Other artifact creatures you control have haste.
Whenever one or more artifact creatures you control attack, Alibou deals X damage to any target and you scry X, where X is the number of tapped artifacts you control.
is huge. They’re a five-mana 4/5 that gives other artifact creatures you control haste, and also read, “Whenever one or more artifact creatures you control attack, Alibou, Ancient Witness deals X damage to any target and you scry X, where X is the number of tapped artifacts you control.” This is clearly very good, so get on it.

Other than that, you’ve got all of the usual artifact support cards you might go for. Literally any of the classics, like Darksteel Forge Darksteel Forge Darksteel Forge Artifacts you control have indestructible. (Effects that say "destroy" don't destroy them. Artifact creatures with indestructible can't be destroyed by damage.) are going to really boost the overall power level of your deck here. It’s also a good idea to make sure you have ways to bring everything back to the battlefield in the event your favorite cards start dying too. There are a lot of cards that can support reconfigure, but more because of the card types than the mechanic itself. Still though, we reckon it’ll be fun to play with.
