Have you ever wondered how many Magic: The Gathering reprints Wizards of the Coast is releasing each year compared to brand new cards? One fan managed to keep track of its growth, so keep on reading if you want to know.

With the release of Modern Horizons 2 this month, fans are curious to know about the number of reprints vs. new cards we’re getting each year, and thanks to Redditor Semarlow, we have learned that the number of reprints is growing alongside the new cards being printed in each set. He included all non-promo paper releases in his search data so he’s not counting cards from Masters Editions 1-4 and judge promos as reprints. Here’s the data Semarlow has shared:

The Redditor went on to sum-up his findings:

WotC is printing more types of MTG products than ever. Just last year, Wizards released Theros Beyond Death, 13 Secret Lairs, Unsanctioned, Mystery Boosters retail, Challenger Decks, Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths, Commander 2020, Signature Spellbook: Chandra, Core Set 2021, Jumpstart, Double Masters, Zendikar Rising, Commander Legends, and Commander Collection: Green.

Modern Horizons 2 is reprinting familiar cards like five of the fetch lands, and some of them like Counterspell Counterspell Counterspell Counter target spell.  and Squirrel Mob Squirrel Mob Squirrel Mob This creature gets +1/+1 for each other Squirrel on the battlefield.  are being introduced to Modern Constructed format for the first time. There’s a total of 48 reprints in the set, not including extended art and retro frame versions.
