Dakkon Blackblade is back in Modern Horizons 2!
Modern Horizons 2 is the next big Magic: The Gathering set that fans are hyped for. The straight-to-Modern expansion will feature brand new cards and reprints for the fan-favorite eternal tabletop-only Constructed format, and fans can’t wait to find out about what the new set has to offer.
Earlier this week, Magic head designer Mark Rosewater shared his Duelist-style teasers for Modern Horizons 2, revealing impartial information of card details from the upcoming set, and we might have found an answer to one of the clues he provided thanks to the details of the Modern Horizons 2 box contents TCGPlayer reportedly shared (via Reddit). That clue was “a planeswalker from the past that has previously only had a legendary creature card”.
“Fan-favorite characters also emerge from beloved books and comics, including the first planeswalker card featuring the tragic hero, Dakkon Blackblade,” the description reads.
That’s right! Dakkon Blackblade, the ancient planeswalker who was forced into the service of Geyadrone Dihada, is getting his own Planeswalker card in Modern Horizons 2! Wizards of the Coast hasn’t yet revealed the new Dakkon card, but based on the original legendary creature card, expect it to be Esper-colored (blue/black/white).
This Dakkon reveal confirms part of the rumored leak for Modern Horizons 2 shared last week.
Expect Wizards to reveal more about the new Dakkon card when previews for Modern Horizons begin this month. This isn’t surprising since the Modern Horizons 2 box art appears to feature Dakkon.

3 Foil Etched Cards
