Archivist of Oghma, from Battle for Baldur’s Gate, is Wizards of the Coast‘s latest effort to fulfill a promise they made to the Magic community.
For a long time, White was the weakest color in Commander. Commander is a format centered on mana-ramp and card draw, neither of which are exactly white’s forte.
White was so embarrassingly bad that the community complained. Wizards of the Coast listened and made us a promise to reinforce the color with more relevant Commander abilities. Archivist of Oghma does exactly that.

Archivist of Oghma triggers off of so many cards. Commander is filled with Tutor effects. Every color in Magic uses them:

But there are so many other commonplace Commander cards that trigger Archivist of Oghma. Even fetch lands like Bloodstained Mire and Misty Rainforest cause your opponents to search their libraries. And when they do, Archivist of Oghma will draw you a card.

Making the Archivist Even Better
Your opponents will naturally search their libraries several times over the course of a Commander game. But you can play cards alongside Archivist of Oghma to trigger its ability more often.
Some cards have extremely powerful effects, but to balance them, they let your opponents search their libraries. While normally, this is a pretty big drawback, with Archivist of Oghma on the battlefield, it actually acts to your advantage!
