It’s that time of year again, where players in the Magic: the Gathering community celebrate the oldest cards and formats of the game. It’s time for Eternal Weekend. This year, Eternal Weekend has some some incredible prizes on the line, and it’s really easy to participate!

What is Eternal Weekend?

Eternal Weekend is a weekend of events focused on Legacy and Vintage. There’s a few different tournaments that have a variety of prizes, but the main draw is the promotional oversized cards. This time around, Eternal Weekend is happening over 2 weekends (1 for each format) with 3 events each with 3 different prizes.

How to Participate

In order to play in Eternal Weekend, you’ll first need a Magic Online account. Once you have your account, you can purchase an Eternal Weekend Entry Token from the store for $25, starting on November 15th at 10 AM PST.

Wizards of the Coast

From this point, once your purchase is processed, you’ll have access to basically every card that’s in Magic Online, all the way up until December 1st, which is 16 days of access. From here, you can go into your collection, and brew up decks for your format of choice. You can take these decks into 1v1 matches, or even leagues to get practice. When you’re ready, and it’s nearly time for your event, you’ll want to make sure that you join ahead of the start time to ensure that you’re in the event, using the token.

Dates of the Events

As I mentioned earlier, there are 2 different weekends for Eternal Weekend, one for each Legacy and Vintage. Here are the dates and times for each of the weekend’s Events. Of note, these are all the same event, just shown in different time zones.

There’s more logistical information that is very important if you intend to compete in Eternal Weekend, and you can find all of that at in the announcement post over on Magic.gg. Are you interested in completing in this kind of event? Even if you don’t have much familiarity with the older formats, gaining full access to all the cards on Magic Online is a really cool thing to have, so that may be worth it all on it’s own.
