During a recent State of the Game blog post, Wizards of the Coast officially announced MTG Arena’s next Historical Anthology. Aptly titled Historic Anthology 6, this Anthology collection will give the Historic format various powerful and exciting cards to expand Historic’s metagame. While it’s by no means a replacement, Historic Anthology 6 may help Historic feel a bit more like Modern and Legacy.
Historic Anthology 6 Release Dates

A recent blog post revealed that Historic Anthology 6 will be launching a lot sooner than expected! Wizards of the Coast has confirmed that Historic Anthology 6 will officially launch on the 28th of July 2022. The Anthology set will only be available until the 5th of October, so make sure you don’t miss out.
The freshly announced Explorer Anthology 1 has also been announced to launch at the same time. It’s important to note however that despite this joint release, these are separate products that will have to be purchased individually.
Historic Anthology 6 Price
Following the trend set by past Anthology sets, Historic Anthology 6 will cost 4,000 gems or 25,000 gold. For reference, the cost of 4,000 gems is roughly equivalent to $25. The set, which is sold as a bundle, contains four copies of the 20 cards included in the Anthology.
After the 5th of October 2022, the bundle will no longer be for sale. Cards from Historic Anthology 6 will still be able to be crafted using Wildcards, even after the sale ends.
Historic Anthology 6 Mechanics

Currently, no keyword mechanics for Historic Anthology 6 have been announced. Instead, each of the currently spoiled cards for Historic Anthology 6 features its own unique abilities. This makes it rather challenging to go into detail on the mechanics that are included in the set. From the currently spoiled cards, it’s possible that Shrines may be a relevant creature type, however this has yet to be confirmed.
Should any interesting keyword mechanics get announced, we’ll update this section to explain any oddball mechanics that may be of interest!
