Following the recent Phyrexia: All Will Be One First Look Livestream, the MTG community has been a hive of activity. Alongside enjoying incredible art and tantalizing spoilers that have been revealed, MTG players were fascinated by one question in particular. Which Planeswalkers will get Compleated during the Phyrexia: All Will Be One story? This curious question has been on the communities mind for some time; however, Blake Rasmussen recently confirmed suspicions.
Following the bombshell news that five of the set’s ten planeswalkers “will not walk away un-Compleated,” players haven’t stopped speculating. Only one Planeswalker

, was announced to be safe, leaving nine others on the chopping block. Subsequently, MTG players have offered up no end of suggestions about who may be getting completed alongside Ajani and Tamiyo. Putting an end to much of the speculation, however, new leaked spoilers have revealed three of the five fallen heroes.
While the spoilers in this article are leaks, they appear genuine, so consider this your official spoiler warning.

was safe, Wizards of the Coast played their Compleated cards close to their chests during the Livestream. To keep players guessing and celebrate the set, of course, Wizards even revealed Compleated manga-inspired art for all ten Planeswalkers. Dubbed “What If” scenarios where anything was possible, players had no way of telling who was safe and who wasn’t. Subsequently, speculation posts took over the MagicTCG subreddit, with everyone providing their own answer. Some players suggested time travel and multiverse shenanigans. Others suggested an Alchemy card may have already revealed the answer! Most players, however, believed that if anyone was going to get Compleated, it was Lukka, as he is… not smart.
As fun as it was to speculate, many MTG players assumed that they wouldn’t know more until the Phyrexia: All Will Be One story starts properly on January 12th, 2023. Thankfully for impatient MTG players, that wait has been cut short, as new leaks have revealed three of the Compleated Planeswalkers. In a post titled “Three Compleated Planeswalkers,” u/LooyeeChiwa revealed that Jace, Vraska, and Nissa were all getting Compleated. More than just spoiling the story, however, u/LooyeeChiwa revealed most of the cards for each of these Planeswalkers.
Interestingly, u/LooyeeChiwa’s leaks weren’t what you’d usually expect from MTG card leaks. For instance, they weren’t taken with a potato-quality camera, nor were they needlessly blurry. Instead, u/LooyeeChiwa’s post showcased a professionally photographed Jace, Vraska, and Nissa in their Oil Slick Raised foil glory. This is thanks to u/LooyeeChiwa’s source supposedly being Wizards of the Coast themselves. While u/LooyeeChiwa has since deleted their comment showing the source, screenshots show Wizards appeared to have accidentally posted this Compleated trio of their BiliBili and Weibo accounts.
Three Down, Two to Go
As you might expect, many MTG players on Reddit were absolutely blown away by this shocking reveal. While players knew it was a possibility and subsequently suspected it could happen, clearly, nobody thought it really would. “Jace Compleated, I never thought that in a million years,” u/Disastrous-Donut-534 commented. As if the de-facto leader of the Gatewatch getting Compleated wasn’t bad enough, Phyrexia also went after his lover, Vraska. “Well sh*t. Didn’t think they’d do Jace and Vraska but here we are,” u/CreatureTheGathering stated. Voicing a similar surprise, u/nachingcl noted how “just today me and the owner of my LGS were talking about how the ONE story would go and he said, ‘I hope Jace and Vraska end up together.’ I guess this counts.”
As shocking as the reveal is that two more Gatewatch members are Compleated, remarkably, players were enamored with a different detail from the surprise spoilers. Focusing on the card’s Collector numbers, Reddit user u/Alchemist_92 noted these spoilers may have revealed more than anticipated. “Vraska being 361 and Nissa being 362 would seem to indicate no red characters get Compleated then.” As u/metroidfood would go on to point out, this has some baffling implications for the Phyrexia: All Will Be One Story “No f*cking way, Lukka actually survives?”
With Lukka seemingly surviving, the fate of half of Phyrexia: All Will Be One’s Planeswalkers has been confirmed. While players were quick to speculate once more, there is no definitive answer to who’s getting Compleated. Many players, such as u/XenonHero126, suggested that

could be done for. Meanwhile, others like u/dark1882 theorized that “Tyvar Kell, Nahiri, and Lukka are not looking so good.”
The Cards Themselves
Due to the massive story implications for Phyrexia: All Will Be One, somewhat surprisingly, the cards themselves took a bit of a backseat. Admittedly, this was likely also due partly to the fact that most of the cards were covered up while being displayed. As u/Kamizar pointed out, however, “at least this is a leak that isn’t blurred to sh*t.” Camera quality aside, what we can see of the leaked cards is very interesting. Nissa, Ascended Animist, for instance, is one of the most expensive Planeswalker’s ever, costing seven mana (3GGGG). Thankfully, due to the Compleated ability, players can cast Nissa, Ascended Animist, for just five mana and four health, albeit at the cost of Loyalty counters.
Nissa, Ascended Animist, sports some very useful abilities to compensate for their immense casting cost. Boasting a +1 that creates Phyrexian Horror tokens, a -1 that destroys Artifacts or Enchantments, and a board buffing ultimate, Nissa Ascended Animist could be a severe threat. are unclear, since they’re mostly covered up. What we can see, however, is that Proliferate features on Vraska, Betrayal’s Sting. This once again confirms the mechanic will be a part of Phyrexia: All Will Be One, as the leaks suggested.
Ultimately while we’ve seen an extra glimpse at what is to come, players will have to wait a while longer for more details. Unless another major leak like this happens, we shouldn’t know more until the story starts on January 12th, 2023. Throughout this story, we’ll learn who gets Compleated during Phyrexia: All Will Be One. However, we won’t see their cards until previews begin on January 17th, 2023.
